The Environmental Protection Team within Knowsley Council aims to protect the environment of the Borough by providing customers with a responsive service for dealing with environmental complaints and concerns and the proactive regulation of pollution sources to ensure that:

• Air quality in the Borough meets standards

• Contaminated land is identified and remediated to prevent risks to persons or the environment

• Operators of industrial processes meet emissions standards

• Members of the community are protected from nuisance and conditions which are likely to be prejudicial to health

• The environmental impacts of development within the Borough are properly controlled
